From March 2025, the Oticon ProWax miniFit kit will be replaced with a more environmentally friendly design and replacement tool. The wax guards themselves are identical and compatible - only the packaging and the tool have changed.
The date shown on the packaging indicates the date of manufacture. Wax protectors can be used for several years after manufacture as long as they are stored in their own sealed packaging.
The ear canal always secretes wax, which can clog the hearing aid over time. This leads to sound degradation, distortion or complete mute. Clogged wax protector is the most common problem with hearing aids, but this can be easily prevented by replacing the wax guard yourself.
Remove one tool from the packaging.
The tool has two branches: empty branch removing the old wax guard, and new wax guard at the other end.
Press the empty branch into the old wax protector in the hearing aid and pull it out.
Insert the new wax protector into the hearing aid by pressing the other end of the tool into place.
Remove the tool and dispose of it so that used and new wax protectors do not get mixed up.
We recommend replacement at least once a month or more often if there is a lot of wax build-up.
Replace the wax protector immediately if the hearing aid's sound becomes weaker, abnormal or disappears.
The wax guard does not need to be cleaned, but you can gently brush the loose foil, for example with a Multitool cleaning brush.
Oticon ProWax miniFit wax protector is an easy-to-use and reliable solution for protecting your hearing aids from earwax. It keeps your hearing aids in good working order, reduces the need for maintenance and ensures the best possible sound quality.
